HEATHERGEMS - Imported from Scotland
Heathergems have been spiritually and lovingly created for almost 20 years in the Central Highlands of Scotland. They are produced by hand, from the stems of the beautiful lavender-colored heather plant, which grow in abundance over the surrounding hillsides, as far as the eye can see. Only the oldest plants are cultivated, so as not to deprive nutrition from the local wildlife. The plants are pulled in a manner which will ultimately promote the growth of new heather.
The heather stems are then dried, stripped and cleaned, then naturally color-dyed. These beautifully colored stems are next pressure bound together and compressed into a block; cut into slices, then cut again individually, shaped, and filled. The lacquering becomes the final touch before these magnificent pieces are delicately set into fittings of either pewter or sterling silver.
As you can see, many of these fittings use traditional Celtic designs and classic knotwork, dating back to the beginning of Christianity in Scotland.
These elegant masterpieces are then exported to “The Pautorium” ………straight to your heart! Every selection is ‘one-of-a-kind’!
